The Blight

Red Mountain exhales a constant spiritual sickness across its surrounding wastes. relics exposed to the Blight grow savage and unpredictable, their eyes glazed with Dagoth Ur's half-dreaming influence.

The Ashlands are the vast volcanic plains spreading north and east of Red Mountain. No farmer has ever coaxed grain from their grey soil. The Ashlander tribes who call this region home live in felt-walled yurts and follow the great silt strider migrations, reading prophecy in the patterns of ash-fall. They are the oldest Dunmer tradition, predating the Temple itself, and they do not forget what the Tribunal once was before divinity.

Of all the regions of Vvardenfell, the Ashlands hold the deepest memory. It was here, at the summit of Red Mountain, that the War of the First Council was decided. It was here that Lord Indoril Nerevar fell, betrayed or merely slain depending on which House you ask. And it is here that Dagoth Ur dreams his endless dream, spreading corruption through the dreamscape to every sleeping Dunmer on the island.

The Ghostfence itself is a monument to how much the Tribunal fears what lies inside it. Constructed from the very souls of deceased Dunmer warriors and maintained by the divine power of Almsivi, it is the largest magical working in the known world, and it is beginning to fail.

Telvanni Philosophy

Power is earned through sorcery alone. The strong survive, rise, and impose their will on reality. Age is merely accumulated power.

The Sixth House

House Dagoth was destroyed at Red Mountain, its people scattered. And yet something survived inside the volcano, dreaming and growing for two thousand years.

SAINT LADY

Distinct Trait

The most active sect with a specific chosen savior and God-Mother.

The Saint Lady sect is a divergent sect of The Order founded by Dahlia Gillespie, a high priestess whose family has a long-standing history of influence both within the Order and the town of Silent Hill. Its members believe that Dahlia's daughter, Alessa Gillespie, must carry the fetus of God to term and give birth to Her to begin Armageddon and bring Heaven itself to Earth.

HOLY MOTHER

Distinct Trait

The oldest known sect. Believe a ritual known as 'The 21 Sacraments' must be completed for God to return.

The Holy Mother sect of The Order is most notorious for their extensive history of child trafficking and sacrifice, and is the source of the majority of the other sect's scripture. Many of their members were originally orphans and wards of the state who became indoctrinated by the church's teachings while staying in the sect's orphanage. One distinct ritual, The 21 Sacraments for the Descent of the Holy Mother, was attempted by Walter Sullivan, who was groomed from infancy to complete the Sacraments by leaders of another sect.

VALTIEL

Distinct Trait

The newest sect. Founded to serve as a mediator between the Saint Lady and Holy Mother Sects. Has no preference for how God returns to Earth.

The Valtiel Sect was a small, clergy-only sect of The Order founded by Jimmy "Red Devil" Stone, a former priest in the Holy Mother sect. Unlike the other central sects of The Order, the Valtiel sect is not commited to a certain method of bringing about Armageddon. It is named after the Order's noted archangel, Valtiel, who is considered God's most devoted servant and is tasked with paving the way for Her return and ensuring Her successful birth. The founder's 'right-hand man', George Rosten, was responsible for raising Walter Sullivan to become The Conjurer and increase his chance of successfully performing the 21 Sacraments. The sect is technically defunct, as both noteworthy members are deceased.

HOLY WAY

Distinct Trait

A disgraced, excommunicated sect who was banished from Silent Hill. Founded the town of Shepherd's Glen.

The Order of the Holy Way, known to most as the Shepherd's Glen Sect, is a divergent group who were excommunicated from the Holy Mother sect over differences in belief and practice in the mid 1800s. The four founders of this sect would go on to form a strict family-based set of roles, each of which with a distinct set of expectations both within the church and the settlement of Shepherd's Glen. All would be expected to eventually sacrifice children to God in a divine pact in exchange for the town's prosperity.
